E-bill

From 01.01.2025, a decisive step towards a modern and more efficient financial system will be taken in Germany as part of the Growth Opportunities Act:

The mandatory introduction of e-invoicing in B2B business

This has long been a reality for companies that work with contracting authorities. EU Directive 2014/55/EU obliges contracting authorities to accept and process e-invoices. Since November 27, 2020, all invoices to public administrations in Germany must be available as e-invoices.

However, far-reaching changes are also on the horizon for the B2B sector, which will affect all companies.
Here you can read about the legal changes relating to e-invoicing, what this means for your company and how you can best prepare for the upcoming requirements.

What is an e-bill?

An e-invoice is an invoice that is created, transmitted and received in a structured, electronic format and complies with CEN standard EN16931. The following formats have become established in Germany.

ZUGFeRD

Attention: The XML file is legally relevant here!

XRechnung -

XRechnung is a structured, XML-based format for electronic invoices that was developed for the exchange of invoice data between companies and public clients in Germany and complies with the EU standards for e-invoices.
